Abstract
Glassy cel carcinoma of the uterine cervix is very rare and histologically is proved as poorly differentiated mixed adenosquamous cell carcinoma. The histologic appearance is distinctive which is characterized by cells with a moderate amount of
cytoplasm having a ground glass of finely granular appearance, a ditinct cell wall that stains with eosin and periodic-acid Schiff(PAS), and enlarged nuclei with prominent nucleoli. The therapeutic results were poor with either surgery or
radiotherapy
alone. But when bimodal therapies combined with radical surgery and radiotherapy were used, it was reported that the survival was improved. We reort a case of glassy cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix with its histologic characteristics.
